BROOKFIELD, Vt. — Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting in Vermont in May that left one man dead and another injured.Devon Dennis, 43, of Hartford, Connecticut, was arrested Saturday as he arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York on a plane from Jamaica, Vermont State Police said in a statement.Dennis is jailed pending an initial appearance next week in Queens County Criminal Court. He will be extradited to Vermont to face second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder charges. An email seeking comment was left with a defense attorney listed in court records.Juan Sierra, 27, of Springfield, Massachusetts, was shot and killed in Brookfield, Vermont on May 12. He was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound to the torso.Miguel Fuentes, 29, also of Springfield, Massachusetts, was also shot but drove from the scene and was assisted by a passerby several miles away, police said. It’s going to be a hot and sticky week across the region, according to the National Weather Service, as warm humid air settles over New England generating dew points that will have some parts of the state sweltering with the feel of triple digits.After seemingly endless days of rainy weather, the state should mostly dry out this week. However as the weekend approaches the region will head into its first multi-day 90-degree stretch of the year, with dew points making it uncomfortable or dangerous to be outside.“The humidity and dew points are going to be very high. Three charged in stabbing outside Southampton Street Shelter in Mass and Cass

Three individuals with connections to a stabbing in the Mass and Cass area on July 15 were arraigned on Wednesday, Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden said.According to officials, Jaden Mathieu, 20, Juan Shanks, 33- both from Dorchester- and Roxbury’s Mikia Steed, 38, face multiple charges in connection with the stabbing, which all three suffered injuries from. Police were alerted of the event just before noon on July 15, reporting outside the Southampton Street Shelter, officials said.Responding officers found Shanks and Steed suffering from stab wounds to the back, with Shanks lying on the street outside of the shelter and Steed in the shelter lobby, officials said.
