Medicare open enrollment season started Oct. 15 and ends Dec. 7, and this year there will be more plan choices, more benefit offerings, and potentially some cost savings on medications.  For the millions of seniors on Medicare,  there also will be more reason to scrutinize your existing plans and weigh your options.During open enrollment, you can make changes such as join, switch, or drop a private insurer’s Medicare Advantage plan for 2024 or a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan. When you are 65, there are two routes you can go: A Medicare Advantage plan offered by a private insurer, which includes hospital care, physician care, prescription drug coverage and other benefits. SAN JOSE — A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of a series of robberies throughout San Jose, according to authorities.Police responded to a report of a robbery on June 29 on the 5000 block of Makati Circle in South San Jose, where a man allegedly snatched a purse from a woman, according to a Friday news release from San Jose police. The woman suffered non-life threatening injuries during the robbery.The male suspect brandished a gun at a witness who attempted to intervene, according to police. SF traffic enforcement driver suffers life-threatening injuries after vehicle flips

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A San Francisco traffic enforcement driver suffered life-threatening injuries after his vehicle flipped over at the Broadway Tunnel on Wednesday, according to officials.The parking enforcement driver was traveling eastbound at 11:11 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle and it overturned, an incident report stated. San Francisco emergency crews responded, and the driver was transported to the hospital for extremity injuries, the San Francisco Fire Department said on X. CHP announces campaign to end teens driving distracted

(BCN) -- A 64-year-old man was found dead inside his cell in the Maguire Correctional Facility early Friday morning, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office announced. The inmate, who was housed alone in a cell at the jail in Redwood City, was found unresponsive at about 4:15 a.m. by correctional officers doing hourly checks on jail cells. 3 suspects in $1,000 alcohol theft arrested in South San Francisco

(KRON) -- Two suspected accomplices to an organized retail theft in San Mateo met up early Thursday morning with a third suspect who was under active investigation by South San Francisco police, according to the South SF Police Department. All three were arrested at the scene by responding San Mateo Police Department officers.South SF police had canvassed near South Airport Boulevard after being alerted to a vehicle in the area involved with a grand theft days earlier in San Mateo. In that incident, $1,000 worth of alcohol was stolen, authorities said. Two women arrested for stealing $1,900 of merchandise at Great Mall in Milpitas The vehicle and one suspect were located, according to police, and a probation search of the vehicle turned up numerous bottles of alcohol.
